Over the past 3 years Canberra based singer Amber Nichols has performed relentlessly with Band Angels Are Architects both locally and internationally. This love of live performance and focused attention has seen her take the stage at a host of venues including Black Stump (Sydney NSW), Chicken George (Japan) and The Mosaic Festival, Singapore’s premiere music festival. Amber spent Christmas 2008 playing as a highlight to over 60,000 locals in the Celebrate Christmas in Singapore. Wether it’s an intimate setting or wowing thousands Amber can move the soul of an audience with her emotional energy and haunting melodies
Her time spent with her best friends and band mates over the years has allowed her to deliver these emotive melodies to many ears across Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and most recently Japan playing an Australian artist showcase in Kobe supported by Austrade.
Amber started her career with Angels Are Architects in 2004 and their first gig saw them take out the National Band Campus State final. They have since appeared on MTV, played live to radio and in 2008 launched their highly anticipated self titled debut EP to a sell out crowd.
Launching her solo career, Amber feels her experience has seasoned her as a strong vocalist and performer and is excited about her future endeavours with artist management company Boston and Billman in Singapore
As an avid student of vocal technique Amber has worked hard developing emotive vocals that reflect a true honesty and warmth.
A diploma of music majoring in vocals and years of vocal tuition has given her a solid basis on which to create her own unique style. Building on this Amber feels the best vocal education comes from listening to and learning from the artists that move you. "I've spent a lot of time intently studying singers who move me - their tone, their phrasing; the emotion in their voice, the way they tell the story."
Amber has spent most of her life singing, peforming in various bands and vocal ensembles as well as doing back up vocals for Idol finalist Hayley Jensen. Amber describes her style as ambient phyc pop, with a mix of folk and jazz. With a wide range of influences including Joni Mitchell, Lamb, and Radiohead Amber’s style is ambient, emotionally raw with nothing to hide.
